Gunna has been laying low since pleading his way out of jail in the YSL RICO case last year, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy putting in work — in the gym, at least.
In a recent photo that made the rounds online on Monday (May 15), the DS4Ever rapper can be seen sporting a noticeably leaner and more athletic physique compared to his previously chubby frame.

The picture shows Gunna wearing a sleeveless vest while hanging out with friends, with his bulkier and more chiseled arm and shoulder muscles on full display. His weight loss certainly caught fans’ attention online.
“Wow on real shit props to him for getting in shape,” one fan wrote on Twitter, while another added: “goddam bro been hitting the gym.”

Some even compared Gunna to Gucci Mane, whose remarkable physical transformation in 2016 following his release from prison led to speculation about him being a “clone.”
“They cloned Gunna like they did Gucci Mane,” one tweet read.

The photo comes shortly after Gunna teased a musical comeback following the backlash over his aforementioned plea deal in the sprawling RICO case against his and Young Thug’s YSL collective.
A fan page dedicated to the Drip or Drown hitmaker posted a snippet of an unreleased song on Instagram earlier this month, while posing the question: “Gunna, where [the fuck] are you?”

“I’m OTW,” he replied in the comments section along with his signature blue P emoji, a nod to his 2022 hit “Pushin’ P.”
The Atlanta native faces the challenge of getting the Hip Hop community back on his side after being branded a “snitch” for pleading guilty in the YSL RICO case in December, a move that allowed him to regain his freedom and avoid trial. According to legal experts, it also inadvertently made Young Thug’s fight for freedom an even bigger uphill battle.

Gunna and his legal team have vehemently and repeatedly denied the allegations.
While the likes of Jim Jones, Boosie Badazz and 6ix9ine have been openly critical of Gunna’s decision, Thug himself has yet to address the situation. The YSL leader appeared to side with his “Ski” collaborator last month when a link to Gunna’s music appeared in his Instagram bio. However, the link was removed less than 24 hours later.

Whether Gunna will even continue to rep YSL remains to be seen. Despite him pledging his allegiance to the label on social media following his release from jail, several YSL members including fellow rapper Lil Gotit and co-founder Mondo have disavowed Wunna.
Rumors circulated earlier this year suggesting he was even plotting an exit from YSL for his next album.

“What’s probably gonna happen is his contract gets negotiated where there’s either a buyout or he’s gonna go to Atlantic Records,” Akademiks speculated on a live stream in February.
“A lot of people think Atlantic Records might have Gunna soon whenever he’s gonna release it, just because based on the turmoil and strife between everybody in YSL and what’s going on with Thug. It wouldn’t be in his best interest to have YSL the label still working his project.”
