'He had six eyes' - Real Madrid maestro Luka Modric left Tottenham stars awestruck in training and m

Luka Modric was so good in training at Tottenham that Darren Bent thought he had 'six eyes'.

Chelsea couldn't keep the Croatian superstar under wraps, in their Champions League quarter-final tie and subsequently lost 5-4 on aggregate.

Even at 36 years old, Modric is proving to be as crucial as ever for Real Madrid and the former Ballon d'Or winner produced two assists across both legs.

In the second game, he was quite simply sensational, and produced a contender for 'pass of the decade'.

Premier League 100-club member Darren Bent crossed paths with Modric in 2008/09 when Tottenham signed the midfielder from Dinamo Zagreb for £16.5million, ahead of Newcastle and Rangers.

Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Bent explained he's not surprised about his incredible career and revealed just how good he was despite initially struggling in England.

“I see a lot of players go to Real Madrid and fail, but he’s gone on to be one of the greatest, not just in our generation, but ever, in midfield,” the he said.

“When you talk about the guy, he’s won four Champions Leagues, he somehow managed to break that mould of the Ballon d’Or by getting one, whether you think he earned it or not.

“He took Croatia to a [World Cup] final, and he still looks incredible. What is he, 36 years old? He is class.

“[At Spurs] you knew he wasn’t going to be there that long, that you could just tell it was a stop gap.

“But he struggled at Spurs at first, couldn’t quite get to grips with the Premier League, but we all saw in training, we remember thinking, ‘wow who is this?’

“You couldn’t tackle him [in training], it’s like he had about six eyes, like you try to tackle him from the right hand side, or pop up behind him, and he would take the ball to his left.

“And then his first couple of yards, he was electric, he was gone.

“Then you go, right, let me show him on his left [foot], and he would go with his right.

“And as you saw last night, he didn’t necessarily have to hit the ball on his left foot to pick a pass.”
