Remains found at a Georgia garbage facility last week have been identified as those of the toddler who went missing earlier this month – and the child’s father is now facing murder charges.

The remains of two-year-old J’Asiah Deon Mitchell were formally identified by the Fulton County medical examiner on Thursday, one week after they were found at the East Point Transfer Station, FOX 5 reported.

Investigators obtained warrants to charge the toddler’s father, 23-year-old Artavious North, who had earlier reported the boy as having been kidnapped.

He faces charges for murder, felony murder, first-degree cruelty to children, and concealing the death, the East Point Police Department told The Post Friday

However, he had not been formally charged or appeared in court as of Friday afternoon, the statement read.

Other suspects could also face charges, according to 11Alive.

“Evil,” J’Asiah’s distraught mother, Asia Mitchell, wrote on Facebook Thursday evening alongside a reposted news update about North’s charges.

“You took my world from me. Now God will make yours upside down,” she vowed in another gut-wrenching post that featured a video of her and J’Asiah laughing together.

Mitchell and North were not in a relationship at the time of J’Asiah’s alleged killing, Channel 2 Action News previously reported.

J’Asiah was visiting with North when he was first reported missing on Aug. 16.

At the time, North claimed that his son was abducted when armed kidnappers cut him off at a red light shortly before midnight.

Within just one day, however, authorities announced that they believed North fabricated the story.

The father was then arrested and charged with making false statements, though he was already in custody on separate charges at the time, Channel 2 Action News reported.

By the time the child’s remains were discovered at the trash facility near North’s home last week, police had named the young father as a person of interest.

“I will tell you, several of [North’s] family members who are very forthcoming have tried to talk to him, and they are pleading with him, ‘Tell the truth,’” East Point Police Chief Shawn Buchanan told Channel 2 at the time.

As of Friday afternoon, it is not known whether the toddler’s cause of death has been determined.
